The Gifts Given to the Prophet (PBUH) During the Journey of Mi'raj
Major Gifts of Mi'raj
1. The Five Daily Prayers
The greatest gift of Mi'raj was the five daily prayers (Salat). Initially, Allah ordained 50 daily prayers for the Prophet (PBUH), but upon the Prophet’s humble request and the advice of Prophet Musa (AS), this number was gradually reduced to five.
However, Allah said: “These five prayers are equal to fifty. I do not change My word.” (Sahih Muslim)
This means that whoever performs the five daily prayers will receive the reward of fifty.
2. The Last Two Verses of Surah Al-Baqarah
On the night of Mi'raj, the Prophet (PBUH) was gifted the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah — from "Āmana al-Rasūlu..." to the end — directly from above the Throne (Arsh). These two verses hold immense virtue.
According to Hadith:
“Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him.” (Sahih Bukhari, Muslim)
3. Glad Tidings of Forgiveness for the Ummah
During Mi'raj, Allah announced:
“I have made things easy for your Ummah and have forgiven their unintentional errors and minor mistakes.”
This means that except for deliberate sins, unintentional mistakes, errors in intention, and minor lapses will be forgiven by Allah.
Conclusion
The gifts given to the Prophet (PBUH) on the night of Mi'raj were not only for him but were everlasting mercies for his Ummah. The five daily prayers, the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, and the promise of forgiveness stand at the heart of Islamic life. It is our duty to appreciate these divine gifts and implement them sincerely in our lives.
