Without human beings, there is no recognition of God.
God or the Creator—an all-powerful, eternal, and invisible being. Although He is the Creator of everything, the ability to become aware of His existence, attributes, and purpose lies only within humans. That is why it is said: “Without humans, there is no recognition of God.”
This statement expresses a profound philosophical and spiritual truth about human life. Satan constantly teaches humans that God exists outside—that we must seek God in the external world.
Indeed, God’s attributes may be seen outside, but His essence and form are not found there. His essence resides within the human heart. Therefore, God’s recognition cannot happen without humans. Seeking God outside while ignoring humans is nothing but a deception from Satan.
1. Humans: A Self-Aware Creation
God created all living beings, but only gave humans:
- Knowledge
- Conscience
- Free will
Through these, humans can:
- Comprehend the depths of creation
- Ask spiritual questions like: “Who am I?”, “Who created me?”, “What is the purpose of life?”
- Make moral decisions
These capabilities are not found in other creatures. It is through this conscious power that humans can realize the existence of God. If Allah is All-Powerful, as He has repeatedly declared—
- Then why didn’t He make His voice known like thunder in the sky?
- Why didn’t He write His words in lightning bolts or rain down ice blocks with His message?
- Why didn’t He drop written divine messages from the sky through angels like a helicopter dropping advertisements?
But if we receive Allah’s words through human voices, as we always have, doesn’t that clearly show that humans are the mystery of Allah Himself?
2. Recognition of God Comes Through Experience and Realization
God does not make Himself directly visible. In the trap of Satan’s whispers, people unconsciously look past the divine. In many allegorical expressions, it is said that: “God came to a servant in a time of need, but the servant turned Him away.”
God says: "It was I who came to your door asking for something, but you turned Me away."
Then the person wonders: "How could You come in the form of that needy man?"
God replies: "I often come in human form, but you fail to recognize Me under Satan’s influence."
Without humans, God cannot be found—because His essence resides within humanity.
God reveals Himself through:
- The vastness of creation — the sky, stars, universe, nature
- The human heart — love, compassion, mercy
- Religious messages — through scriptures like the Quran, Bible, Gita
But only humans can interpret, analyze, and extract meaning from these revelations. Animals or trees are not capable of such understanding.
3. In Light of Religion
Allah says in the Quran: “I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”
(Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:56) Worship doesn’t mean only performing rituals like prayer. It includes:
- Striving to know and recognize Allah
- Reflecting His attributes in our lives
- Humans alone are the appointed creation through whom God's recognition and message are conveyed to the world.
Hadith: "Whoever knows himself, knows his Lord." (A phrase widely used in Sufism and Islamic spirituality) This means: through self-awareness, humans arrive at the recognition of God.
4. Philosophical Perspectives
Advaita Vedanta (Non-dualism): The human soul and the divine (Brahman) are one; self-knowledge is God-knowledge.
Existentialism: Within human existence lies the capacity for questioning, seeking, and finding meaning—which leads to the search for the Creator.
5. Recognition of God Through Morality and Values
God symbolizes justice, mercy, and truth.
- When humans:
- Speak the truth
- Avoid injustice
- Show kindness and forgiveness
- Then God’s attributes become manifest through them.
These ethical behaviors make God’s presence tangible in life.
Conclusion
God may be everywhere, but the ability to know, contemplate, and express His presence—
belongs only to humans. Hence the saying: “Without humans, there is no recognition of God.”
Because the human being is:
- The mirror of God
- The bearer of His message
- The interpreter of His attributes
Humans are the mirror in which the essence, attributes, and majesty of God are reflected.
