Brief Introduction of Iblis:

 Brief Introduction of Iblis:

Hazrat Azazil (A.S.) was cursed by Allah and became Iblis. Azazil was the son of Hamus, the fifth prophet and king of the jinn. His father's name was Khabis, who had a terrifying appearance like a lion. His nature was also wild and powerful like a lion. Khabis possessed five types of supernatural powers and had a cunning face. He was regarded as the leader of the sinful jinn.

Azazil's mother was Nilbis, the daughter of Hamus, the fifth leader of the jinn. She resembled a wild wolf, both in appearance and nature. According to a narration, Iblis was born from the union of Khabis and Nilbis, both created from the fire of Hell. Thus, the evil nature of both parents deeply influenced Azazil's character.

Azazil had a friend named Sarbuk, who was an expert in all kinds of knowledge.

Azazil’s Devotion Before Being Cursed:

Before being cursed, Hazrat Azazil (A.S.) was a devout worshipper of Allah. Through continuous worship, he gained various spiritual ranks — sometimes becoming a devout servant, sometimes a saint, and sometimes a pious individual. As a result of his worship, he was granted the opportunity to witness the sacred "Lauh-e-Mahfuz" (Preserved Tablet).

Azazil once expressed the desire to reach the highest spiritual rank, "La-Mokam." But it was not destined for him because if he had reached that level, he might have understood the mystery of the creation of Adam (A.S.).

The Incident Leading to His Downfall:

One day, while visiting Lauh-e-Mahfuz with the angels, Azazil read an inscription stating that soon Allah's curse would descend upon one of His servants forever. This caused great fear and sorrow among the angels. They requested Azazil to pray to Allah so that they would be saved from such a curse.

Azazil prayed for all the angels but, out of arrogance, forgot to pray for himself. Later, Azazil saw a verse written on a tablet:
"Auzubillah himinash shaitanir rajeem"
("I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil.")

He was surprised and asked Allah about the identity of the cursed being mentioned. Allah told him, "Soon you will see him." Azazil even prayed against the yet-unknown cursed being, unaware that he himself would become that being — Iblis.

Eventually, when Azazil disobeyed Allah's command to bow to Adam (A.S.), the divine curse fell upon him, fulfilling what was written in the Lauh-e-Mahfuz. He became the cursed Iblis.

Final Lesson:

Despite Azazil's extreme level of worship, his arrogance destroyed him. Therefore, for us — ordinary sinners — the biggest lesson is that worship alone is not enough; humility, obedience to Allah, and sincere repentance are essential for salvation.
