The Prophet (PBUH) on the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Final Heavens during Mi'raj
On the night of Isra and Mi'raj, the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ascended the seven heavens by the command of Allah, accompanied by the angel Jibreel (AS). At each level, he met various prophets. These meetings not only reflect the honor of the Prophet (PBUH) but also hold valuable lessons for his Ummah.
Fourth Heaven
🔹 Encounter: Prophet Idris (AS)
🔸 He is the prophet about whom Allah says: “We raised him to a high station.” (Surah Maryam: 57)
🔹 According to hadith, he resides in Paradise.
Lesson from this stage: The patience, contemplation, and spiritual elevation of Prophet Idris (AS) serve as a model to follow.
Fifth Heaven
🔹 Encounter: Prophet Harun (AS)
🔸 He was the brother and assistant of Prophet Musa (AS).
🔹 The Prophet (PBUH) saw him as an honored figure who was loved by his people.
Lesson from this stage: Gentleness and reliance on Allah are key to fulfilling leadership and responsibilities.
Sixth Heaven
🔹 Encounter: Prophet Musa (AS)
🔸 A great prophet of Bani Israel, to whom the Torah was revealed.
🔹 Upon seeing the Prophet (PBUH), he began to weep and said, “A prophet has come whose followers will enter Paradise in greater numbers than mine!”
Lesson from this stage: Rather than jealousy, sincere faith and spiritual competition reflect true beauty and character.
Seventh and Final Heaven
🔹 Encounter: Prophet Ibrahim (AS)
🔸 He was known as Khalilullah—the intimate friend of Allah.
🔹 He was reclining against Bayt al-Ma'mur, a sacred place in the heavens directly above the Kaaba where angels perform Tawaf.
🔸 He told the Prophet (PBUH): “The soil of your Ummah's Paradise is very fertile. Tell them to plant more trees in it by saying: Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar.”
Lesson from this stage: The gardens of Paradise are cultivated through the remembrance (dhikr) of Allah in this world.
Additional Narrative Details:
As the Prophet (PBUH) proceeded to the fourth heaven, the same pattern of questioning and welcoming took place. There, he met Prophet Idris (AS), exchanged greetings, and received his prayers.
Next, he moved to the fifth heaven and met Prophet Harun (AS).
Then he ascended to the sixth heaven, where again he was welcomed with questions and congratulations. There he met Prophet Musa (AS), who warmly received him.
Conclusion
The encounters of the Prophet (PBUH) with the prophets on each of the heavens during Mi'raj are not merely historical incidents; they are profound lessons, sources of inspiration, and guidance for spiritual elevation. From the fourth to the seventh heaven, each meeting reminds us of the honor of the Prophet (PBUH) and the responsibilities of his Ummah.
