"Namaji, your prayer is wrong, you have kept the prostration in the mosque, you have abandoned the root of faith"
“O Worshiper, Your Prayer Is in Vain” — A Qur'anic
and Hadith-Based Reflection. This
statement reflects a deep truth hidden behind the external form of many
people's prayers (Salah). We offer Salah, go to the mosque, perform sujood
(prostration)—but if our prayer lacks faith (iman), humility (khushu),
sincerity, mindfulness, and love for Allah, then that Salah becomes nothing
more than an outward show.
Is establishing Salah really so
simple that standing behind the Imam in congregation at the mosque means we’ve
fulfilled it? Guruji Sairammim once said:
"Salah is said to be a
conversation with Allah! But a lifetime of Salah goes by, and no conversation
with Allah ever happens! We chase mirages all our life and never find the
water."
Allah says in the Qur'an:
“Aqeemus Salah” – Establish the prayer.
The word "Aqeemu" means to establish, uphold, or set up,
and "Salah" means connection or communication.
So, "Aqeemus Salah" means to establish a connection, to
uphold communication—and since it’s done for Allah, it's clear that through
Salah, Allah has commanded us to connect with Him.
However, we often interpret Salah
merely as supplication or prayer. If Salah were just that, Allah would
not have said:
"Seek help through Salah and
patience."
Can one make supplication within a supplication?
No—Allah meant: “Establish your connection with Me and then seek help.”
1.
External Prayer Is Not Enough — The Heart Must Be Present
“So woe to those who pray but are
heedless of their prayer.” Surah
Al-Ma’un: Verses 4–5
Explanation: This verse addresses those who perform the physical act of
prayer but whose hearts are absent before Allah.
There are over 1.5 billion Muslims
in the world. While not all of them offer five daily prayers, millions still
pray regularly. In every mosque around the globe, millions of supplications are
made for the welfare of the Muslim ummah after daily and Friday prayers. On
Eid, special prayers are offered.
Yet, the Muslim community continues
to deteriorate. Why are these countless prayers not producing results?
Because we perform Salah as a ritual, not as a spiritual connection.
Only Allah knows whether our Salah
is accepted or not. If you truly connected with Allah during Salah, would you
not feel it? It is because Salah establishes a connection with Allah that it is
called Mi'raj (ascension) for the believer.
2.
Allah Looks at the Heart, Not the Body
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"Allah does not look at your appearance or your bodies, but He looks at
your hearts and your deeds."
Sahih Muslim: 2564
Explanation: It is not enough to go to the mosque and pray. There must
be faith, sincerity, and love for Allah in the heart.
3.
Showing Off in Prayer Is a Sin
"Woe to those who pray but are
heedless of their prayer, those who only pray to be seen."
Surah Al-Ma’un: Verses 4–6
Explanation: Those who treat prayer as a performance or pray just for
show will not have their prayers accepted by Allah.
4.
Is Salah a Duty or a Relationship with Allah?
"Indeed, Salah prevents
immorality and wrongdoing."
Surah Al-Ankabut: Verse 45
Reflection: If you continue to backbite, commit haram, display
arrogance, or engage in injustice even after praying, it means your Salah
did not establish a connection with Allah.
Misunderstanding religion leads to
its misapplication. Every year, two million Muslims go to Makkah for Hajj,
praying for the welfare of the Muslim Ummah before the Kaaba. But despite that,
Muslims continue to suffer globally.
Why? Because those prayers lack connection. Any act of worship without a
connection to Allah is valueless.
5.
Is Prayer a Habit or a Realization?
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"If a person's prayer does not keep them from immorality and wrongdoing,
let them reflect on whether they are truly performing it properly." Reported by Abu Hurairah (RA), Sahih al-Jami: 3910
Explanation: Mechanical prayer does not purify the soul. It must be
performed with awareness, reflection, and spiritual focus.
6.
Prostration Without Faith — Even Shaytan Knew Allah
"And [mention] when We said to
the angels, ‘Prostrate before Adam’; so they prostrated—except for Iblis. He
refused and was arrogant and became of the disbelievers." Surah Al-Baqarah: Verse 34
Explanation: Shaytan knew who Allah was but did not show submission or
humility. Hence, his knowledge, prostration, and acts of worship were all
rejected. Worship without faith is meaningless.
We have lost the path to connecting
with Allah and have turned Salah into just a ticket to Paradise.
If Salah alone were the key to
Jannah, then those who martyred Imam Hussain (RA) in Karbala—who still
prayed Asr in congregation after the massacre—would also enter Paradise. They
all prayed five times a day.
Even the hypocrites around the
Prophet (ﷺ)
used to offer Salah behind him.
Will they all use the “key” of Salah to enter Paradise?
